Obituary of Carole Anne McCarron

EGERTON - Carole Anne McCarron, 86, Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home, Trenton, formerly of Egerton, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, with her daughters and grandson by her side.

Born on January 19, 1938, in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Bertrum and Jessie (Dickson) Polley. She was a member of the former St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church, Egerton.

Carole leaves behind her daughters, Cheryl, New Glasgow; Shelly, New Glasgow; Paula, Tampa, Fla.; Daughter-in-law Beverley, Duncan BC., grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob, Zachary, Jaslyn, Leo, and Patrick; brother, Grant (Patsy) Polley, Abercrombie; many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Carole was predeceased by her husband, Patrick; son, Brad; son-in-law, Wayne; brothers, Fred, Alexander, and Donald.

Carole graduated from the Aberdeen School of Nursing in 1958 and married her sweetheart Patrick shortly thereafter. They raised four children in Egerton, Pictou County. Carole nursed at the Aberdeen, working in the Diabetic Clinic for many years before her retirement. She was a member of the Aberdeen Nurses Alumni and attended their gatherings until recently.

She always kept active; skating weekly, golfing with her nursing friends and grandson Ryan, and she even took up clogging in her fifties. She was an avid bridge player and met with her bridge friend weekly for years. She played cards up to the end with her friend Ann at Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home.

The family will receive visitors 10-10:50 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024, in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with DeaconSander Burke presiding. Interment will be in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Egerton.
